About South Africa
South Africa is a vast, exhilarating and spectacular country, extending nearly 2000km from the Limpopo River in the north to Cape Agulhas in the south and nearly 1500km from Port Nolloth in the west to Durban in the east.Along South Africa's northern border running from west to east are the countries of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland while Lesotho soars above the grassland towards the southeast
The first free elections in 1994 and the election of President Nelson Mandela heralded the birth of modern South Africa. Since then, the country has enjoyed a prolonged period of political stability and growing economic strength.
There is an abundance of energy and sense of progress throughout the country. The infrastructure is constantly improving, the climate is wonderful and there are few better places to see wildlife than South Africa.
The increasing numbers of visitors in recent years has brought about an explosion of tours and activities: everything from abseiling off Table Mountain to whale watching.
It is both an invigorating and challenging time for South Africa.
